WhiteCloud releases bespoke API mapping technology for travel sector affiliates
WhiteCloud Digital Solutions (WCDS) has released an API mapping tool aimed at the travel affiliate market. It is designed to increase merchant exposure and incremental sales on long tail affiliate sites, but providing those affiliates with the technology to create an interactive user experience.
Jan 2010 data from Google demonstrated the increased search activity on travel keywords across all areas of travel. The investment by travel merchants in the affiliate channel reflects this trend with ever more entrants coming into this highly competitive market. Like all mature sectors, the affiliate world is polarized into technologically savvy publishers creating rich user experiences as they move consumers through the purchase cycle. At the other end is a growing long tail of niche sites that contribute to brand exposure and incremental sales and it is these sites where WhiteCloud’s mapping tool can have a big effect on merchant and affiliate revenue.
The technology uses merchant API feeds to overlay locations onto a Google map. In built flexibility allows each publisher to select scale and location as required. Publishers can add to sites as an image and immediately off an interactive experience to their users. Ultimately this leads to increased click through rates and greater return for publisher and merchant.
